My great-grandfather, Aaron Fiscus, was born February 9, 1839. He was the son of Jacob and Jane (Bowen) Fiscus. I don't know very much about Aaron except that my father said he was 5'2" and an extremely strong man. He married Mary Susanna Dyar in Owen County, Indiana, on September 14, 1867. Mary was born in Owen County on August 16, 1848. Her parents were Robert and Elizabeth (Miller) Dyar. Mary and Aaron had 8 children: Zachariah, Tylar, Martha Ellen (my paternal grandmother), Jacob, Lilly, Robert E. "Bert," Fred, and Amos. Mary died in 1919 and Aaron died January 22, 1928. They are both buried in Pleasant Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery (Greenbrier) in Owen County, Indiana. |
