| Grandpa was born August 16, 1871, near Freedom,
Owen County, Indiana. Joe was a coal miner. He was a member of the
United Mine Workers of America. He was also a blacksmith, like the Greenwood
men before him. He died on June 16, 1950, in Linton, Greene County,
Indiana, and is buried in Lebanon Cemetery (near the flagpole), Midland,
Greene County, Indiana. |
She was born July 18, 1872, in Coal City, Owen County,
Indiana. I never met her parents, Aaron Fiscus and Mary Susanna Dyar. Her
first husband, Dr. John W. Mahorney, died soon after they married in Owen
County, Indiana, on April 30, 1891. She married my grandfather, Joseph
Newton Greenwood, in Coal City, Owen County, on October 18, 1893.They had
8 children. The youngest was my father, Arthur Greenwood. Martha Ellen
died on March 03, 1978, in Linton, Greene County, Indiana. She lived to
be 105. |
