| Joseph Arthur Greenwood
(Joe), 49, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 2,
2008, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born in Dowagiac,
Michigan. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and received
a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in
Gainesville, Florida. He was a courier, then he was employed by
Rollins, Inc. as a computer programmer until he retired. After that,
he started working at the AIDS Survival Project. He served as the
Survival newsletter editor and was also a counselor. He worked with
many other agencies that dealt with AIDS Research and Support for
HIV/AIDS individuals.
Joe left behind his mother, Jane Greenwood of Duluth, Georgia; his
father and stepmother, Gordon and Priscilla Greenwood of
Gainesville, Florida; two brothers, Richard Greenwood of Duluth,
Georgia, and Donald Greenwood of Norcross, Georgia; two
step-sisters, Kimberli and husband Greg Webb of Walker Minnesota,
and children Richard Carter and Sabbastian Wilson-Webb of Walker,
Minnesota; Priscilla Wise of Gainesville, Florida, and stepchildren,
Samantha Knudsen of North Carolina, Erin and Corry Knudsen of
Gainesville, Florida; two stepbrothers, Randall Wilson of
Gainesville, Florida; and Darrell Wilson of Eugene, Oregon and his
son Niles Nicola and daughter Rachel Nicola of Cheney, Washington;
an aunt, Ann Williams of Crown Point, Indiana, and a cousin and his
wife, Gregg and Barbara Williams of Merrillville, Indiana; an aunt
and uncle, Melody and Larry Coffey of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a
cousin and his wife, Shannon and Christiane Coffey of Metarie,
Louisiana, and their children Erika, Jaden, and Sarah Grace. He was
preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlotte and Roy
Williams of Linton, Indiana; and his paternal grandparents, Annette
and Arthur Greenwood of Jasonville, Indiana. Joe requested that his
body be cremated and ashes scattered from a plane over a favorite
Florida beach near St. Augustine, Florida. A celebration of Joe's
life will be held in March, 2009 in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, you
may choose to make a contribution to one of the following
