Chapter Five
"Imagine you are sitting on my back," said Freedom. "You are bare foot and can feel my silky hair, warm against your legs. Your hands are holding tightly to my mane and we are racing through fields of flowers. Some of the flowers tickle your toes and make me sneeze. The wind is blowing my mane in your face.
Now we are slowing down, we are about to enter the enchanted forest where bluebirds sing and all the little creatures are our friends. They think you are a fairy princess, come to visit on her milk white steed. And they will take us to the grotto where dwells the Spirit of Springtime, fair Lady Amaryllis, whose garment is a woven wreath of flowers in bloom, and nesting birds adorn her hair.
She speaks: 'Welcome, Joanna! I welcome Freedom to my haven of eternal Spring. Come Child of Earth, come Spirit Horse and let the steps of Freedom echo through my land. Come rest ye by my sparkling streams and dream upon my sunlit banks. The animals shall bring you food. The waters shall caress your feet, and nature sprites shall sooth your mind and fill your thoughts with joy and peace.'"
And so Joanna and Freedom lay down upon the grassy banks and dreamed they were in fairyland - and magic was the order of the day. And when Joanna finally awoke, she was sitting back underneath her tree - and there was Freedom, resting one hind leg and looking as though he had never been anywhere at all.
"How do you feel?" he asked kindly. Joanna was feeling very well indeed. She opened her eyes slowly, she was smiling.
"Oh, thank you Freedom," she said, "that was so beautiful."
"What did I tell you," said Freedom, looking as though he had never galloped across flower filled meadows or drunk the waters of eternal Spring. "I tell you your thoughts are your things, and where your thoughts go - your energy flows. Your energy is your light, your spirit spark you know. The real you. Change your thoughts and you change your life. Your perception of life."
Joanna thought about this, if the real her had been visiting fair Lady Amaryllis in her grotto in the enchanted forest - then who had been left sitting under the tree? It certainly was a puzzlement.
